I began my career with Indiana Department of Correction in 2014 as a Correctional Officer at Rockville Correctional Facility. During my time in this position, I helped to ensure and maintain the safety and security of the facility. I also played a front-line role in keeping both staff and inmates safe and enforced all rules and regulations of the facility. During my time at RCF I was a member of the facility Emergency Response Team (E-Squad). I completed the basic E Squad academy in 2015. I continued my career with the State of Indiana when I was offered the opportunity to advance my career within the Parole Division. After completing Parole Agent training in 2016 I was given a caseload of 40-50 parolees in Clinton and Carroll Counties. I utilized an assigned vehicle and traveled to these counties each day. I was then assigned to supervise 35 sex offenders spread across 5 counties in southern and central Indiana. I gained valuable knowledge working with members of the treatment team as well as obtaining skills recognizing and understanding sex offender behavior. daily tasks included field and home visits, responding to information requests, emails and phone calls, writing reports and recording OCMS notes daily. I ended my supervision of this caseload when I was given the opportunity to advance to Correctional Police Officer in 2017. As a correctional police officer within the IDOC I have a multitude of responsibilities and job duties. I have served in this capacity since my graduation from ILEA in March 2018. I work closely with other law enforcement agencies daily to capture delinquent parolees, coordinate parole sweeps and conduct out of state extraditions. I am currently TASER certified and certified to use the Glock 17, Glock 26 and AR-15 rifle. Daily tasks for me include gathering intelligence, writing reports, answering emails and phone calls, and contacting parolees and members of the public.
