The reason why I would be an excellent candidate for the combined degree program for biostatistics at Grand Valley State University is because of my personal background. In 2021 my father passed away due to Covid 19. As a result this made me interested in the biology field. I have always been interested in research and innovation in medicine. For this program I would want to go into the research side of biostatistics. This would mean clinical trials and research. While my father wasn't here with my family for long he did teach me a few things. One of them is math. Growing up he would tutor my twin brother and I math after school helping us with our math homework. This resulted into me loving math and statistics. I had so many great memories with my father and him teaching us math will always be a great one. Another life lesson my father taught me was an education is a privilege. My father didn't come from a lot, and he always taught us that an education is a privilege and that it needs to be earned. I am blessed that I do get to have an education here at Grand Valley State University but I would also be more grateful to have an opportunity here to study biostatistics at the combined degree level. My goals for this program would be to do it and do it well. And what I mean is if I am accepted into this program I would not only just do this program but I would do it well. I would love to learn all the data and analytical sides of biostatistics and the clinical trials aspects of this degree. I would not take this opportunity for granted.
