Volunteered for community service projects, applying academic knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Member of 4-H: I have served as Secretary, 2nd Vice President, President, and currently Vice President. I have served as Secretary and as a Council Delegate for District 2 4H for the past 2 years. I have been a Texas Youth Livestock Ambassador through 4-H for the past four years and remain in good standing, getting more than the required volunteer/community service hours each year by holding programs and working at the State Fair of Texas and San Antonio Livestock Show, doing educational programs. I have also helped work the ring of the Lamb Show at the State Fair, doing things like helping with weight back, and taking sale qualifiers to get their animals branded.
As a member of 4-H, I have received the Gold Star Award and the National Danforth 'I Dare You' Award. I have advanced to the State Roundup each year in rifle, public speaking, and my team won the talent show last year, and we got to perform on stage before everyone in the general assembly.
As a 4-H member, I have led clothing drives, blanket drives, and made bears for the Ronald McDonald House. I have sold numerous tickets for various fundraisers, as well as sold geraniums and poinsettias. I have been a counselor at the District 2 Junior Leadership Camp, and I will serve as a counselor again this year. As a District 2 Council Member, I have also helped with the Senior Leadership Camp. I have help with County Camp bringing my lambs for children to pet and let them help with washing and shearing. I also talk to them about the four pillars of feeding lambs. I have even gone to another county and helped with a Lamb Clinic there, doing the same program for them, as well as helping them with showmanship.
I have shown lambs and goats through both 4-H and FFA.
As an FFA member, I have served as my chapter treasurer for two years, and I am currently serving as the chapter secretary. I also served as the Plainview District Secretary last year.
I have advanced to Area in Creed Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Public Speaking, and Ag Advocacy. Our Ag Advocacy team even advanced to the state last year. I also compete in Vet Science. I received my Lone Star Degree this summer at the State FFA Convention. I won the Blue & Gold Award from my local chapter my Freshman year.
Achieved academic honors and awards, recognizing exceptional performance.
I am a member of the National Honor Society and was inducted in my sophomore year. I am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. I also serve as a Junior Member of the Floydada Pumpkin Days Committee. I ran for Pumpkin Day Queen, which involved selling raffle tickets and gathering business donations. I was able to raise the most money, and was crowned the 1st Senior Pumpkin Day Queen.
I compete in UIL events such as Literary Criticism, Persuasive Speaking, Informative Speaking, Calculator, and Computer Applications. I have advanced to Regionals for 2 years in Persuasive/Informative Speaking, and 3 years in Literary Criticism. Last year, I placed 6th in persuasive speaking at Regionals.
I also play varsity tennis. I started out playing singles, but now I play doubles.
I babysit for one of our school administrators on teacher workdays. I also help my mom at her office occasionally with filing, shredding, or anything else she may need. My dad owns his own heating and air conditioning business. I help him when he has to go into really small places or up in attics. Sometimes I am just the "gopher," taking things back and forth.
