I am a Veteran. I spent 6 1/2 years in the Kentucky Army National Guard with 1 deployment to Iraq. I also worked at the Grayson County Detention Center for a little over 6 years. I have gotten out of the law enforcement line of work to learn a trade and to add more tools to my tool belt. With the time spent in the military and law enforcement it has taught me how to be a team player and very detail oriented.
As a Utility Worker I fill in where we are short handed. I will perform work as a conveyor operator, loader operator, deckhand, dockman, dump truck driver, maintenance, scale house and anywhere else I am needed. I recently got certified as an Aggregate Technician for KDOT and TDOT.
When unloading barges of product, I operated all the belts and hoppers so the product could get to its destination in a timely manner without overloading the belts or without stopping the hoppers up. Operated conveyor, stacker and loader equipment, observing all safety features to avoid accidents. I would have to clean up where product has built up under the belts and pulleys. Sometimes that would be with a shovel or a loader. I reported any damaged rollers or belts or faulty equipment to maintenance and I would grease all the bearings on the system.
I help with traffic signals and roadway lighting. Troubleshoot circuits. Lay conduit and pull wire. I use a bucket truck to hang traffic signals and pull the wire and wire them up.
I help to install new heating and air units, I help the technician journeyman with servicing and repair of units.
At McCormick Equipment we install and service dock equipment and doors for warehouses. We have to deal with the public every day and have strenuous time lines we have to meet. Doing all this while following rules and regulations put in place by OSHA, Our company and the company we are doing the work for.
Collect data using TerraSync using trimble hand-helds. While surveying and analyzing utilities infrastructure.
I worked with journeymen to complete all kinds of tasks. From welding to fit-up, to working inside of boilers and tray towers. I have also done a little bit of refinery work.
I had to guard inmates inside of their cells and keep them safe. I was a member of the S.R.T team for about 4 years or so. I was also a supervisor for a period of time before I left inside the building to go to the transport team, where we transported inmates from our facility to other facilities, and back and fourth to court. Then after final sentencing we would transport them to prison. We also done a lot of transporting for Immigration. In order to be on the S.R.T team I had to get qualified on a variety of weapons to include but is not limited to the Taser and pepper spray.
I joined the Kentucky Army National Guard at 17 years old as a Junior in high school. Went to Fort Knox for basic and A.I.T after my senior year. Signed up as Military Police and after my first year in I decided to change my M.O.S to my hometown unit. Got deployed to Iraq where I was V.I.P escort, so any distinguished visitor that came over it was our responsibility to safely take them where ever they needed to go.
