Hi! My name is Talia Wheeler, and I am a Junior at West High School. I was born in Illinois, moving six times before coming to SLC in 2016. I speak Spanish close to fluently and have taken four years of ASL. I love running and crocheting, and have good leadership skills. I have raced six half marathons, participated in cross country and an ultimate frisbee team, and am hoping to run my first marathon this fall. Additionally, I run an Etsy Shop where I sell my crocheted products, and I have managed a booth in the Avenues Street Fair twice. Thank you for your time!
I am an active member in Girl Scouts, having received both my Bronze and Silver Award. Additionally, I was selected as a Girl Scout youth ambassador to participate in the CSW (Commission for the Status of Women) conference between Fall 2021- Summer 2022. I attended this conference virtually, then later helped plan and facilitate a model CSW for other members of Girl Scouts.
I have been playing violin since Fall 2018. I participated in the Youth Chamber Orchestra during Fall 2020 to Spring 2021. Last November, I performed violin in the pit orchestra for West High School's Into the Woods performance, while this year, I am participating in the Youth Artist Chamber Players orchestra. Additionally, I volunteer at Primary Children's hospital performing violin weekly.
