Cardiac Interventions Unit (CIU) and also the Observation Unit.

CIU, I cared for pts on drips such as heparin or amniodarone. Administered IV and PO medications such as insulins and adjusted heparin drips per dr orders until I discovered the pt's therapeutic level.

Observation Unit I provided whatever care the doctors ordered.

At this Genesis Davenport hospital, I was also floated numerous times to CSU (Cardiac Stepdown Unit), to Neuro/Oncology Unit to provide pt care; also SSU (Surgical Specialty Unit) providing pt care; to Medical Pulmonary Unit (Med/Pulm) providing nurse care to that category of patients; and finally to the ORTHO unit to care for the patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries.

• Administered medications via oral, IV, and intramuscular injections and monitored responses in post operative observation unit.

Phase II discharge nurse; provided pt care as well as discharge teaching and follow up appointment dates.

I worked the first year as a nurse tech, cleaning OR's and putting away supplies. After I became an RN I worked Pre-op, PACU, circulated some. PACU is my love..

*There was a three year gap in this position. The first year I went to a PRN position at this same job as I stayed home some to care for my aging parents and my baby granddaughter.

**The following two years I worked at Great Plains Regional Medical Center as House Supervisor. I then returned to my surgery position as I had a teenage son that I needed to be home with at night.
