  • Assisted radiologists in performing diagnostic procedures as needed.
  • Identified patient's individual needs prior to scanning procedure.
  • Maintained quality assurance of all equipment used for imaging studies.
  • Provided instruction and assistance to other staff members regarding CT scan protocols and techniques.
  • Ensured that radiation safety measures were followed during the administration of contrast media.
  • Reviewed patient records to ensure accuracy of information and data entry into PACS system.
  • Operated multi-slice scanner for a variety of complex examinations such as cardiac, vascular, trauma, neurology, abdomen, pelvis, head, neck and orthopedics.
  • Reported any malfunctions or discrepancies with the equipment immediately to supervisor or service engineer.
  • Utilized knowledge of anatomy and physiology to identify areas needing additional imaging.
  • Placed IVs to prepare for injection of contrast media.
  • Used hospital computer systems to verify orders, view schedules and send information to PACs.
  • Positioned patients properly for scans and procedures, calmly giving instructions on when to stay still to optimize scans.
  • Offered assistance in dressing or changing seriously ill, injured and disabled patients.
  • Administered contrast materials under the direction of a physician for enhanced imaging.

Mother CaRE

SELF
Chicago, IL

  • Assisted with personal care activities, such as bathing, dressing and grooming.
  • Provided companionship and monitored the health condition of mother.
  • Companionship and monitored health condition of my mother.
  • Transported to doctor appointments.
  • Maintained a clean living environment for safety.
  • Helped with medication self-administration.
  • Accompanied clients to doctors' offices or on other trips outside home.

CT Technologist

Advocate Trinity Hospital
Chicago, IL
08.2021 - 12.2022
  • Operated CT equipment to generate quality images.
  • Placed IVs to prepare for injection of contrast media.
  • Used hospital computer systems to verify orders, view schedules, and send information via the EPIC network.
  • Reviewed scanned images to ensure accuracy of information and data entry before verifying within the PACS system.
  • Reported any malfunctions or discrepancies with the equipment immediately to supervisor or service engineer.
  • Adhered to HIPAA guidelines by maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
  • Acquired accurate patient history and documented details prior to scanned exam.
  • Prepared contrast material under the direction of protocol/radiologists.
  • Administered contrast materials under the direction of a physician.
  • Greeted, comforted throughout procedures, and scans while being as discreet as possible.
  • Entered commands, specified sequences, and adjusted for scans.
  • Operated multi-slice scanner for a variety of complex examinations such as vascular, trauma, neurology, abdomen/pelvis, head, neck, and orthopedics.
  • Demonstrated effective skills, for example. A head with contrast requires 80cc with a flow rate of 2.0. If the injector is not working, the patient can still be scanned by utilizing time. Inject 80cc, wait 4 minutes, and then scan. Two different ways, but the optimized vessel will look the same.
  • Chest CTs are many, Routine chest, PE, Arch protocol, and Lung. For example, I scan lungs in a low dose range of radiation, whereas a PE chest will be a higher dose. Reason, anatomy of interest, and induction of contrast media.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness, I scan all angiography exams using a ROI. This is a trigging mechanism within a CT Scan Machine. Triggering the scanner to start a certain Hounsfield unit (HU). I put my ROI on the ascending aorta for a carotid artery study. This type of study always has a post-processing enhancement. MIP (ing), Bone windowing, or Soft tissue windowing.
  • Performed quality measurements. ABD/pelvis with contrast would not be done if a doctor is looking for a kidney stone. Kidney stones have the same opacity and contrast media. So, the patient is not given contrast.
  • Utilized knowledge of anatomy and physiology to identify areas needing additional imaging. For example, the pancreas needs scanning. I ask the patient are you allergic to contrast and / or have you ever had a contrast given CT study. They say yes.
  • Implement protocol as directed by radiology department leadership. I check labs value before any contrast media is given. I also check the allergies. A pancreas scan is a nothing-by-mouth requirement (4 hr.) and a creatinine/GRF type of exam.

Special Procedures Technologist/Lead CT Technologist

Emory University Hospital Midtown
Atlanta, GA
03.2018 - 07.2021
  • Performed imaging procedures, such as angiography, to diagnose and treat diseases under the guidance of a resident or radiologist.
  • Assisted physicians in performing special procedures and/or biopsies. For example, a bone marrow biopsy requires a sterile field and a biopsy gun. The tissue samples are put on a lab slide.
  • Every morning, I scanned a CT phantom to ensure that all equipment was properly maintained and operational before use.
  • Administered contrast media according to protocols.
  • Set up the fluoroscopy machine for optimal image quality during examinations. This requires draping the scanner and helping the radiologist put on his sterile gowning.
  • Assisted with the medical devices for vessels for therapeutic purposes.
  • Prepared sterile trays containing required instruments prior to each procedure. For example, sterile gloves, gowns, dilator, and biopsy guns.
  • Followed infection control protocols while working in sterile environments. My job was to monitor who was entering and leaving the exam room.
  • Communicated effectively with colleagues regarding patient care needs.
  • Provided emotional support to patients undergoing difficult procedures.
  • Maintained highest levels of quality, safety and patient confidentiality by following hospital and regulatory guidelines when collecting patient information and conducting imaging procedures.
  • Reviewed diagnostic image quality and filed diagnostic images in appropriate patient records.
  • Reduced exposure to radiation using beam-restrictive devices and patient shielding techniques.
  • Maintained inventory and supply levels for contrast materials, film, catheters and other medical items, checking inventory stock and reordering items running low.
  • Communicated with physicians to discuss lab test findings, procedures and other relevant information.
  • Received and interpreted written requisitions from nursing units for routine or special laboratory tests.
  • Collaborated with healthcare professionals to interpret test results, contributing to the development of appropriate treatment plans.
  • Adhered to all safety protocols, including the handling and disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe working environment.
