Supervision:
Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, and provides suggestions for growth to management.
Verifying correct horses arrive in the paddock for each race by checking tattoo numbers, microchip numbers, sex, color, and markings and comparing those with documents of registration, eligibility, or breeding, as necessary to a certain horse's identity
Supervise the identification of any horse on the grounds before approving the horse for digital tattooing
Maintain records of all equipment worn and the tattoo, microchip, and/or freeze brand number for reaching horse racing at the meeting.
Responsible for all of the activities in the saddling paddock on race day including supervision of:
Assembling of the horses scheduled to race; Saddling of said horses; Recording of saddling equipment and changes thereof, making sure the proper approvals have been obtained; Should a discrepancy arise, call stewards for final determination on the equipment to be carried; Calls riders to saddle walking ring area to put horses on the track 10 minutes before post time; Notes horses that are unruly and/or difficult to saddle, placing the horses on a paddock list which requires schooling in the paddock to be removed from the list; until taken off. Works with trainers to schedule paddock schooling during the races when the size of the field allows. Responsible for training races including; Assisting with the taking of entries; Drawing the horses into the training race schedule making the effort to split trainers; Compiles and distributing the list of training races; Responsible for all of the activities in the saddling paddock on training race days to simulate race day as closely as possible; After schooling races, inputting the preference date for training race
horses that were approved by the stewards.
Must determine the order of finish for all horses in the race. Delete horses on all lists via computer. The daily record of incoming and outgoing foal papers. Report generating. Assist in pre-race day scratching of horses, and enter entries. Complete the official program indicating the finish of horses, and track conditions, and handle and trace attendance for each race day. Assist the draw of races. Back-up program coordinator. Submit to the Bookkeeper nightly, cards verifying the correct order of finish. All other duties as assigned.
Horse Trainers are responsible for
assisting horses in adapting to saddles and bridles, rewarding and training horses to obey commands, analyzing horses’ dispositions for possible behavioral problems, training to prevent future behavioral problems, teaching horses to perform various exercises, being strongly versed in various equestrian styles and training horses accordingly, acclimating horses to riding on various terrains and to boarding trailers, observing horses' nutrition and health (notifying veterinarian if needed), assisting in grooming and making grooming recommendations, maintaining stables and waste management, and feeding and watering horses.
