Work History

Certified Nursing Assistant: Intensive Care Unit

Providence St. Patrick Hospital
08.2024 - Current
  • In August of 2024 I was fortunate enough to accepted onto the Intensive Care Unit team for 0.3 bid
  • After acceptance I was entrusted with many secretarial duties that included creating and distributing census reports as well as entering all nurses and health care associates into the Responder system to ensure patients' call lights would notify the proper healthcare professionals in a timely manner
  • Additionally, I was responsible for creating patient charts prior to arrival, assisting in the admittance and discharge of patients, and conducting safety checks to ensure emergency equipment was present during emergent situations
  • Further, I was responsible for responding to patient call lights and utilizing critical thinking skills to determine if I could safely assist the patient in their needs or should instead interrupt the assigned nurses activities to inform her that the patient needed specialized assistance
  • As a member of the ICU team I had the unique opportunity to learn from critical care nurses who had devoted many years of their lives to assisting critically ill patients and utilize this time to discover what skills and knowledge I would need to obtain in order to be successful as a critical care nurse after graduation.

Certified Nursing Assistant: Floor 5 South

Providence St. Patrick Hospital
09.2023 - Current
  • I started as a CNA on 5 south at the beginning of September
  • My duties have included taking vital signs, monitoring patients for condition changes, bathing patients, changing linens, emptying and measuring input and output from various types of drains, and any other tasks that I am asked to do or feel might make life easier for the assigned nurse
  • While this is my first time in the healthcare setting I have found that I greatly enjoy the challenge of managing time effectively as well as monitoring for changes in a patients' condition that potentially indicate an issue and promptly reporting such changes to the nurse
  • This experience has made me much more effective at time management and recognizing what subjective and objective patient information does or does not need to be reported to the nurse
  • It has been an incredible learning opportunity and a great stepping stone to my goal as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at St
  • Patrick Hospital.

Carpenter/ Concrete technician/ Peri Form Climber

Jackson Contractor Group
10.2017
  • I spent 5 winters employed with Jackson Contractor Group primarily assigned to the concrete division in Big Sky and Bozeman
  • My primary role on the crew was that of a PERI wall climber
  • After constructing forty to sixty foot tall metal walls on the ground, they were attached to a tower crane and flown over the job site and to me so I could secure it in place
  • As the wall was flown into place by the crane, I would either receive the wall while attached to the top of the form immediately adjacent to it or quickly climb to the top of the newly placed wall using pelican hooks attached to a climbing harness and use large metal ties to secure the wall to adjacent PERI walls
  • This job required a great deal of situational awareness and split-second, high-consequence-critical thinking skills to prevent serious injury or death to myself or coworkers as the 10,000 pound panels were flown to me and were often caught by the wind causing them to spin at a high rate of speed
  • Additionally, I had the responsibility of climbing on the panels as concrete wall pours were carried out, moving and attaching the 60lb external wall vibrator to different parts of the wall as the pour progressed to facilitate optimal structural integrity of the material through proper vibration placement
  • While on the crew, I take pride in being the individual that strives to lift the morale of the crew and promote a positive outlook while setting an example through my work ethic.

Activities Guide/ Rappelling & High Ropes Supervisor

The Resort at Paws Up
07.2015
  • At the Resort at Paws Up, I served as an activities guide on activities such as rappelling, ATV and RZR excursions, aerial ropes course, guided hikes, private mountain bike excursions, sporting clays, 22
  • Rifle shooting and electronic bicycles
  • Guiding is an incredibly rewarding experience in which I am able to instill my passion and knowledge of the outdoors in individuals who have not had the opportunity to immerse themselves in this lifestyle
  • Later, as a senior guide and supervisor I have been granted the opportunity of being assigned as a personal guide to the resort's most prominent VIP clients
  • I deeply enjoy the challenge of preparing for every possible scenario in order to make sure that my guests are fully able to enjoy their outdoor excursions knowing that their guide has the knowledge and gear required to keep them safe and comfortable
  • Along with the standard responsibilities of being a guide comes inherent risk and occasional scenarios in which guests' lives are in jeopardy
  • In such situations I am expected to respond in a calculated and collected manner while utilizing the resources available to me to provide my guests with first aid or prepare them for medevac extraction
  • While employed as a guide with the Resort at Paws Up I have encountered and reacted to a variety of unexpected situations in a variety of ways
  • These include applying tourniquets to guests, directing in life flights in the backcountry, safely removing guests from rolled vehicles and installing and enacting creative mid rappel rescues for guests who have jammed their ATC or become stuck upside down
  • I have also taken the time to study up on native and non-native plants in Montana including edible and medicinal uses of these plants and trees so as to be more informative to my guests while out on guided hikes
  • My most recent season was spent as the supervisor of the resort's rappelling department and high ropes course
  • My duties included conducting training for guides, maintenance of materials and the course, inventory, aiding in the evolution of each department and also overseeing trips to ensure guest safety.

  • My second season with Grayback I was promoted to a squad boss trainee position
  • As a squad boss trainee I was the supervisor of the ten crew members assigned to my squad
  • It was my responsibility to implement the safest yet most sound and efficient tactics to develop a plan to accomplish given objectives in a timely manner that exceeded the expectations of my supervisor
  • My duties included putting the safety of my subordinates above all other objectives, monitoring fire behavior and deciding whether or not my men should be pulled from the fire line to a safety zone, overseeing line production, maintaining communications with air and land resources pertaining to the completion of the task at hand, making sure that the members of my squad understood the current assignment and had the proper means to complete said assignment, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of my men and using this knowledge to assign them to the task they would be most proficient at, along with many others
  • While in this position I was also able to spot and ICT5 a small incident
  • I acted as the incident commander for a ½ acre wildfire started by a lightning struck snag
  • I was able to fully complete my squad boss trainee task book and was signed off as a Firefighter Type I.

Idaho Panhandle Hotshot Crew

06.2010 - 10.2010
  • I was hired on as a rookie on Idaho Panhandle in the beginning of June
  • Being a rookie on a hotshot crew took everything I had ever learned about working hard, shattered it and rebuilt it
  • We were subject to up to 28 hour shifts if necessary throughout the day or night
  • The summer consisted of normal fire crew 'Rolls' of 14 days of 16 hour shifts with two days off between each roll until completion of the fire season
  • I was required to remain flexible and jump in wherever I could be helpful including long days of fire line construction, five hour plus hikes in and out of fires with varieties of weight to be carried and several other strenuous activities in order to be successful throughout the day
  • We were expected to be up and en route to the fire line before five and work until the sun went down while maintaining a positive outlook on a day to day basis for up to three weeks straight
  • This crew taught me to find a way to keep my head up no matter what I am tasked with and also to put my head down and work until I am physically unable when necessary.

Great Northern Fire Crew

06.2009 - 10.2009
  • I was hired on to a type two initial attack fire crew named The Great Northern
  • On this crew we were dispatched to over 10 fires during my time employed with them over the summer of 2009
  • These fires ranged from 20 miles away to the extreme of getting sent to Alaska to help contain 100,000 acre plus fires
  • This fire crew taught me the true meaning of hard work
  • When on a fire we would work 16 hour shifts for up to 18 days straight
  • This crew also showed me the great importance of teamwork and the importance of pulling more than your own weight to help out your team.
