Emergency Medicine Attending Physician in the following PEP locations:

Primary job responsibilities include managing multiple patients both with serious and non-serious illnesses and injuries including heart attacks, stroke, motor vehicle accidents, severe infections, and pneumonia, and performing assessments, diagnostic procedures, and medical treatments as needed to resuscitate or stabilize patients and refer them to the appropriate medical departments.

• Examine up to 40 patients in 12-hour shifts in the ER.
• Manage ER as the sole ED physician in Level-3 ER, while being responsible for leading code blue or any emergent procedure on the floor
• Work and collaborate with various nursing staff, EMS providers, ED Tech and hospitalists on a regular basis
• Supervise physician assistants during shift.
• Rapidly assessed and stabilized critical patients before transferring them to a tertiary center (road/air)

• The 12-months fellowship program prepared me to work in rural or suburban emergency departments.
• It enriched me with hands-on training at an urban community-based hospital and a tertiary care referral/Level II Trauma center.
• Solo shifts in multiple Level-3 ERs (seven community hospitals associated with PEP) on a regular basis
• Did multiple proctored shifts in various Level-2 trauma centers
• Independently performed various ER procedures viz. Central line, Intubation, Chest tube, Suturing, FAST exam, Cardiac resuscitation.

Inpatient

• Independently managed inpatient Family medicine floor, run solely by FM physicians. Diagnosed and treated wide variety of patients with comorbidities and complex pathology.
• ICU - Provided care to patients with multiple comorbidities including those with rare pathologies like pulmonary fibrosis secondary to bleomycin toxicity, ARDS, HLH, septic shock.
• Managed Covid-19 patients and their oxygen requirement and constantly kept abreast with the continuously changing guidelines.
• Took critical decisions such as, transitioning patients from floor to the ICU while keeping an eye on patient’s deteriorating condition.
• Children’s hospital of Michigan (Inpatient Pediatrics) – Managed diverse pathology ranging from failure to thrive, nephrotic syndrome, Down’s syndrome, asthma exacerbations, pyelonephritis.
• Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital – Treated patients with alcohol addiction, opioid (heroin addiction), benzodiazepine addiction, managing withdrawals and then preventing relapse.
• Henry Ford Medical Center, Fairlane (ER) - Treated pediatric and adult patients in ER. Varied pathology includes DKA, asthma exacerbation, cyclic vomiting syndrome, pancreatitis, COPD exacerbations, seizures, CHF exacerbation.
• Henry Ford Hospital Emergency department, Detroit (Level 1 Trauma center) - Treated patients with varied pathologies viz. Altered mental status, Acute on chronic hypoxemic respiratory failure, Acute blood loss anemia secondary to GI bleed, End stage chronic liver disease, cirrhosis.
• Proactively collaborated with other teams like GI, Nephrology, Palliative and Hospice teams for patient care.

Outpatient

• Henry Ford Medical Center, Harbor Town - Managed routine wellness visits to teenager health issues like anxiety, depression, bipolar, body image, immunization, contraception, STI screening.
• Counseled patients on birth control methods and prevention of diseases such as cervical, colon and breast cancer.
• Treated and managed LGBTQ patients on hormonal therapy and mood issues.
• Geriatric population care – Developed treatment plans for patients with chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, hyperlipidemia.
• Facilitated advanced care planning with immediate family.
• CHASS center - Provided prenatal care, managed gestational diabetes / hypertension, thyroid issues, back pain, anemia, UTI.
• Nursing Home, Boulevard Temple Care Center - Treated patients assigned to me for long term care throughout the period of residency. Managed patients’ chronic issues like dementia, hypertension, failure to thrive and depression in elderly. Monitored patient’s conditions such as weight changes, their medication & blood work for chronic issues and re-evaluated treatment as necessary.
