Tanya R. Edwards, RN, a native of Mississippi, earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree in History from Gustavus Adolphus College aspiring to be a teacher like many of her family members. Tanya later in life started a career in nursing graduating in 2008 from Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas with an Associate of Nursing Degree. Tanya is a 17-year Medical-Surgical Nurse but has pursued other areas of nursing throughout her career: Home Health, Hospice, Case Management, Long-Term Care and Corrections. Continuing her education, she completed a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. Tanya is currently working on her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Northcentral/National University. Her education is complemented by her work experiences in leadership and development beginning with the development of her first million-dollar grant for the AmeriCorps Jumpstart literacy program becoming the first in the state of Minnesota and the replica for other programs. Tanya’s is also passionate about Stroke Prevention and her Call to Action was a children’s book she co-authored with her daughter called HELP! My Nana Looks Funny. In addition, Tanya started a scholarship for aspiring nurses at her Alma Mater Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas called the Taylor Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Tanya has two Daisy Award Nominations and she was also featured during Nurses Week in 2023 by Nurse.com – 2023 Nurse Stories Collection and Youtube Video. Tanya is a member of Chi Eta Phi, Incorporated and volunteers in her spare time. Tanya is married to James Edwards and together they have one daughter Ayanna Taylor.
