  • As a paraprofessional in the Responsibility Center (RC), we aide to students with behaviors in the classroom that may not otherwise be appropriate.
  • We have a conference with the students between the principal, the Dean of students and another paraprofessional of the RC staff.
  • I do have training and experience in holds and removal from classroom if necessary and have utilized that training multiple times.
  • We discuss the incident, responsibility, accountability and setting goals.
  • We teach them tools to use during moments where they feel they need to de-escalate a behavior independently.
  • I also facilitate the sensory room.
  • After doing a presentation with the endowment committee, I secured over $1,300 in funds to get sensory items for the sensory room.
  • The sensory room helps students with sensory needs providing sensory input by certain items.
  • These items include visual, auditory and tactile items.
  • I also work during the summer as a Teacher teaching Social Emotional Learning and activity lead for the after school and summer school program, SPARKS.
