• Collaborates with campus facilitates to incorporate monthly automated external defibrillator (AED) maintenance checks, to ensure machines are adequately working to maintain the AED warranty
• Ensures staff and programs work collaboratively with other Dallas College areas, faculty, and staff.
• Reads, interprets, and implements the State of Texas THECB statement regarding Bacterial Meningitis.
• Promote a safe environment for students to discuss their feelings and then, ultimately, help them develop strategies to deal with the events in their life.
• To provide a prevention-oriented health care model for basic, find cost-effective community health care resources and updates a referral list of health care professionals, clinics, and resources in our area, including specialty services such as Care - such as checking temperature, blood pressure and breathing, administering injections, cleaning and dressing wounds etc.
• Administer vaccinations i.e. Meningitis and flu etc.
• Stays informed of new trends and procedures that would enhance college health care delivery.
• To promote the health maintenance and well-being of students through health counseling, screenings, and health awareness activities; to include not only direct patient care but also teaching, counseling, and serving as a campus consultant on health-related matters.
• To provide leadership, strategic visioning, establishing strategic goals and objectives aligned with the College’s mission and goals for the Student Health Center.
• To oversee federal and state law compliance for all educational and medical entities: FERPA, HIPPA, TITLE IX, CLERY ACT., etc.
• Responsible for the day‐to‐day operation of the Health Center and provides direction and supervision to students and staff across multiple campuses. Responsible for administrative and management functions, by setting a clearly defined high quality and culturally competent care. Collaborates with staff and ISD Administrators to identify, develop and implement best practices for tracking health care needs. Ensures the Health Center is compliant with policy, legal, regulatory and licensing requirements.
• Interacts and provides direction to academic departments and staff members, as a consultant, in regard to health/medical issues or concerns. Collaborates with staff and ISD Administrators to identify, develop and implement best practices for tracking health care needs.
• To serve as the key point staff member/expert for any medical emergency on campus, i.e. a case of documented or presumed case of bacterial meningitis; serves as the medical liaison to the Emergency Operation Command Center for natural disasters/emergencies that may occur on campus.
• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other job duties as required.
