  • Provide high quality instruction in behavioral science and serve as an excellent role model to family medicine residents, medical students and staff demonstrating the necessary counseling skills needed by a family medicine physician. Provide therapy and continuity of care for patients in conjunction with the residents, faculty, and medical students. Provide behavioral and psychosocial education in an in-patient and outpatient setting. Provide appropriate and timely feedback to the resident and medical student. Submit evaluations of residents at home visits, SMV, and video taping. Coordinate and collate 360 evaluation of resident for biannual Pod evaluations of family medicine residents and documents the comprehensive review in New Innovations. Chair the CCC committee, confirm the Milestones, and assist Director in reporting Milestones to ACGME. Provide didactic sessions on behavioral science topics for family medicine residents and medical students in a group lecture or one-on-one format. Demonstrate lifelong learning and participation in scholarly discovery, dissemination, and application of mental health, psychopathology and behavioral science. Coordinate and lead the resident Balint group on a monthly basis. Co-lead the Women in Medicine group. Provide patient care services in a manner consistent with the ethical standards of the Social Work Profession. Coordinate patient care and communication between the physician’s patient and referral to a community agency or other mental health provider.   • Directly supervise Master’s and Doctorate Level Outpatient Therapists in 2 locations. Maintain and balance a departmental budget. Run department and team meetings. Participate in several committees, including Trauma Informed Care and Grants. Give presentations as a representative of the agency as needed. Assist with grant writing. Interview and hire potential staff. Provide direction, support, and when necessary, disciplinary action for staff. Work collaboratively with other managers and members of the Executive Leadership team to maintain and support the mission of the agency. In July 2015, I obtained state certification to supervise LMSW and Temporary LMHC staff toward their Independent Licensure in the state of Iowa and currently provide such supervision to 4 staff. In addition to my administrative duties, I continue to provide direct services including clinical mental health assessments. I have co-facilitated programs of STEPPS training to adult females with Emotional Intensity Disorder. I continue to provide Parent Child Interaction Therapy services to children age 2-7 and their families and am continuing to work on building a PCIT program at the agency. I also provide Individual Therapy services as my schedule allows. I assess for client needs and make appropriate referrals as needed, as well as assist my staff in this area; this can include assisting clients in partnering with an IHH, referring to specialty care, and engaging with community resources. As a mandated reporter, I also make calls to the DHS abuse hotline as required when situations deem it necessary and complete agency and other required Incident Report forms promptly.
