The EMS Captain is a frontline supervisor responsible for overseeing day-to-day emergency medical operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, mentoring staff, and maintaining operational readiness. This role combines leadership, clinical excellence, and logistical coordination to support both EMS personnel and the residents/visitors of Forsyth County.

• Provide direct supervision of EMTs and paramedics on assigned shifts.
• Serve as the on-scene EMS incident commander when necessary.
• Conduct performance evaluations, counseling, and mentoring.
• Foster a positive and professional work environment.
• Assist with coordination of mutual aid and special event coverage.
• Respond to and investigate complaints, incidents, or unusual occurrences.
• Complete shift logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Support scheduling, inventory, and supply management as needed.

The EMS Lieutenant serves as a first-line supervisor responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, and providing leadership and support to EMS personnel. This position involves direct clinical oversight, scene coordination, administrative tasks, and acting as a liaison between crews and upper leadership.

• Training/Precepting newly hired employees as well as co-workers who have advanced in their credential level.
• Assist with onboarding and orientation of new hires or trainees.
• Participate in and lead training sessions and drills.
• Respond to high-acuity or complex calls to provide clinical and supervisory support.
• Act as the EMS on-scene commander as required.
• Report personnel issues, clinical concerns, or operational needs to the EMS Captain or Battalion Chief.

• Safeguarded patient dignity by providing compassionate care and respecting cultural differences while administering medical treatment.
• Maintained a clean and organized ambulance environment that facilitated efficient delivery of patient care services.
• Demonstrated adaptability in handling diverse patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics across various medical emergencies.

• Coordinated scene management during mass casualty incidents, effectively triaging patients for optimal utilization of resources.
