Youth Football Head Coach

St. Johns Little League
Saint Johns, AZ
07.2021 - 10.2025

After my wife and I move to St. Johns a little over five years ago, we quickly recognized the need for a youth football program in the community. We saw an opportunity to give local youth a place to build meaningful relationships, create lasting memories, learn important life lessons, and grow into confident young men and women, while also serving as a funnel to the high school football program.

  • With the help of community members and sponsors we raised well over $20,000 in order to begin a football program for the youth of St. Johns
  • Coached 3rd-4th grade football for two years and 5th-6th grade football for three years while simultaneously helping the high school program in 2022 and serving as a middle school coach in 2024-2025.
  • During this time I learned how to simplify the game for the youth athletes. While still demanding excellence and hard work with no room for complacency. Ultimately building a foundational knowledge of the game.
  • Through the 5 years I developed practice plans to enhance player skills and team performance.
  • Had Friday “walk-through’ practices each game week and executed game day operations, ensuring player readiness and familiarity with the sport.
  • Worked with assistant coaches, providing and receiving guidance on techniques, schemes and effective coaching methods.
  • Evaluated player performance throughout practices and games, adapting our focus for individual and team needs.
  • Implemented injury prevention tackling titled ‘Hawk Tackling” prioritizing athlete safety during the act of tackling. This was gone over and stressed each year throughout every practice and game.
  • Coordinated fundraising events to support the leagues needs such as, player equipment, practice equipment and uniforms.
  • Watched and analyzed game and practice film week after week to identify areas for improvement and weakness.
  • Developed athletes'' skills through personalized coaching, resulting in higher gameplay and effectiveness. While also teaching the importance of self evaluation and goal setting.
  • Organized and led practices and intra-squad scrimmages, encouraging competition and better development.
  • Maintained strong relationships with athletes, and parents. Relationships I still have today.
  • Appointed Equipment Manager for the football program; evaluated needs and expenditures before, during and after each season, and was entrusted with managing funds to purchase necessary equipment for the program
  • Assessed player performance with weekly evaluation and adjusted my coaching techniques based on individual needs.
  • Was responsible for preparing and organizing the football field prior to each home game and tasked to clean up after each game.
  • Consistently guided teams to winning season, culminating in a championship in final year of coaching.

Assistant Coach

St. Johns High School
Saint Johns, AZ
08.2022 - 10.2022

Not on the official coaching staff but instead invited to contribute off-staff by reviewing opponent film at my own initiative, providing insights that informed coaching decisions and team preparation.

•Analyzed opponent film to track tendencies by ‘down and distance’ supporting the team in making informed decisions on game day based on the opponents prior decision making.

•Monitored games from the booth, offering live strategic insights to the coaching staff through a headset and helping implement timely adjustments to gain a competitive advantage.

• Evaluated individuals through game film, relaying constructive criticism to coaches on each players performance and how they can improve.

Head Middle School Football Coach

St. Johns Middle School
Saint Johns, AZ
06.2024 - Current

When I volunteered (receiving no payment) to help coach middle school the program was in bad shape. The 8th graders had not won a game or scored a single touchdown the prior season. A standard was set and the culture quickly shifted. The 1st season ended with a combined record of 7-5 between the 7th and 8th grade teams.

The following year I was made head coach of the middle school program while also being head coach of the 5th and 6th grade little league football team. Between the three teams we achieved a combined record of 17-3.

  • During this time I heavily studied and developed game strategies and put together playbooks to best aide players to reach their full capability.
  • Built a positive team culture and set a standard for the program through leadership and challenging athletes to never fall short of said standard.
  • Coordinated practice schedules week by week, hosted film sessions at my personal residence and put together team dinners to ensure players play at their highest level.
  • Worked with the athletic director to align the football program goals with academic standards.
  • Went out of my way to locate film through different avenues so we could analyze game footage to identify opposing teams tendencies and how to best exploit them.
  • Created the team's playbook and game strategies, adding offensive plays each week to expand the teams football knowledge and effectiveness.
  • Maintained communication with the school athletic director regarding any player injuries, grades or day to day tasks or issues throughout the season
  • Worked with my coaching staff before and after practice in order to create comprehensive practice plans.
  • Mentored and encouraged student-athletes to balance academic responsibilities while also emphasizing who they represent on a day to day bases. Promoting exceptional young men, both on and off the field.
  • Organized fundraising events to support the middle school football program. We were able to raise $3,726 this year. Which will help with football equipment, including new jerseys for next year.
  • Created and maintained strong bonds with players by speaking with them individually throughout the season and getting on their level. Giving words of encouragement and also constructive criticism depending on each players needs.
  • Established strong team culture and values to promote teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Teaching the athletes to never be satisfied or become complacent in their pursuit of becoming great players and great young men.
  • Instilled discipline by holding every player accountable for their own equipment, getting to practice on time and practicing with full effort.
  • Always kept myself up to date with football knowledge and schemes. Purchasing books, online playbooks, defensive schemes, drills, practice templates and insight from seasoned coaches throughout the country.
