Tatiana Smelik is a contemporary fine artist based in the Chicago area, working primarily in oil painting. Her artistic practice explores the relationship between value, identity, memory, and cultural displacement.
Drawing on her European art education and experience in fine art, design, and visual communication, Smelik creates thought-provoking compositions in which familiar objects acquire unexpected meanings.
Her recent conceptual works explore how value and identity can change when removed from their original context, addressing themes of belonging, preservation, and transformation.
Smelik has presented her work at Spectrum Chicago 2026, held a solo exhibition at Acquisitions of Fine Art in Hinsdale, Illinois, and exhibited at Lake Geneva Boutique Art Gallery. She was awarded Second Place in The People’s Artist 2026 competition.
