Under direct supervision, the Health Services Assistant for the Nutrition and Health Program will
provide breastfeeding education and support to WIC prenatal and breastfeeding participants who are
part of the Sistah Connection support group for African American women, facilitate and host Peer
Counseling Program support groups.
Responsibilities include assisting professional staff within the Department of Public Health (DOPH)
or other medical staff by providing a variety of client services, which includes basic administrative,
clerical, and technical support services for clients/patients and the public; acting as a liaison between
the Department of Public Health and the community; and performs other related duties as required.
Data entry and documentation in the Program database.
Checking patients in and out, collecting copayment, answering phones, scheduling, insurance
verification, taking messages, referrals and authorization, updating patient information.
Floating to different departments within SRS as a PSR, Primary responsibilities include checking
in patients for appointments, collecting patient co-pays, answering telephones, taking accurate
messages, scheduling appointments, and checking insurance eligibility. This position utilizes
SRS electronic record system to verify and update patient demographic information as well as
post and balancing of payments collected. Providing excellent customer service, assuring that
patients are informed and well cared for while waiting for their appointment.
