  • Transport Coordination - Working cohesively with the Transfer Center RN, accepting physician, referring physician, and transport operations supervisors to ensure the most appropriate transport mode is utilized for all patient transfer requests; updating physicians and clinical personnel of acceptance, mode of transport, and patient's arrival status.
  • Dispatching Air/Ground Transport - Determining the mode of transportation based on clinical outcomes criteria; entering and maintaining flight/ground transport plans for all transports in tracking software; maintaining situational awareness of other aircraft operating in service area; monitoring changing weather conditions utilizing weather radar software and alert pilots as well as vehicle operators as appropriate; alerting specific receiving and referring facilities/departments of transport updates.
  • Additional Responsibilities - maintaining communication with air/ground transports via Viper, 800, VHF radio system, satellite or cell phone; flight following in accordance with requirements of Aeromedical Providers FAA FAR 135 Certificate; facilitating the transition from one mode of transport to another when the primary mode is unavailable due to weather, distance, or maintenance; communicating with the Patient Placement office and Nursing Supervision to maintain current knowledge of bed availability and coordinating appropriate bed assignment for patients requiring admission; receiving, documenting, and making appropriate notification of all time-sensitive requests such as STEMI, stroke, and ELVO via Everbridge and Pulsara, to ensure treatment teams are notified and in place for patient arrival.
