As a marine biology student at the College of Charleston, a tremendous amount of experience with working in the field and the lab was gained. A few notable experiences are learning to use a dichotomous key to identify self-caught marine fishes in "Biology of Fishes", doing research studies on local marsh life for "Biodiversity, Ecology, and Conservation Biology," as well as learning proper laboratory techniques in many classes. As a studio art minor, a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of life developed, as a great proportion of the artwork done is from studying life. Through this, an understanding of precision, accuracy, and time management skills was achieved that often benefits marine biology work. A clientele was gained through the techniques learned; in which commissioned work for murals, paintings, and drawings were fulfilled. While simultaneously being a student and waitress, time management as well as determination in school were improved greatly. Experience as a waitress was motivating in working with others to create not only the best dining experience for guests, but the best work environment.
