The very first day I started, I was getting trained by Jeff Moyer in weather stripping. First day at a new job, I was scared and nervous. I learned how to apply weather strip, what size of weather strip goes on what panels, and the different size compression strip goes on each tail panel.
I got trained in that for two weeks.
Next, after those two weeks I got trained in cleats. I learned how to "preassemble" the cleats, put them on, how to read the paper work, and to find what size RGB goes on every single panel. I have continued in both of these areas til this day as well. When I first started it would take me about 5minuets to do a panel, now it takes me about 2minuets when doing RGBS. As time went on and I got more familiar with the covers and what the "picture perfect" is supposed to look like I started noticing peoples mistakes.
Rather it be missed welds, missing tethers, ball studs, ect I would always take the panel back to get it fixed I do it on a daily still.
After getting comfortable in doing cleats, I ventured my way to hinges. While learning hinges, I got to see how to put the covers together with the hinge, how to put them on, and so much more.
After knowing those three areas on the finish line I got to go to the maskin/papering line. Tom Kolesar was my trainer during this. I learned how to tape off the covers properly, put on logos, run a grinder and how to paper.
During my days over masking/papering I was always looking more stuff others missed like missed welds, messed up linex, bad logos, runs in the paint.
No matter what department I am doing I am always looking for mistakes to help out QC (quality control). When I got my foot in the door I wanted to learn the basic areas. I help push my teammates to get the covers we need for the day by encouraging them, even when we get frustrated at times.
After thinking it over and over, it has been a dream for me to work in QC.
On a few occasions I got to down and help QC, I did the center panel ball studs, saftey arms and helped put the covers together. Also, while working some down there, I got taught how to make boxes by Cody Lee. He showed me the diffrent sizes in boxes, how to find what size box to make when certain covers come and they need a custom box, and how to load and reload the staple gun. I enjoy the fast pace, I communicate well with others, ask others for help when needed. I look over the covers before sending them to QC that way if I see a problem I can get it b=fixed to help them out, or if it a problem I can not get fixed I will write it on tape and tape it to the cover so our QC guys are aware of the issue incase they would happen to miss it. I want to chase after my dream and that would be going to QC. I love to do something different,I want to expand my horizions by taking on a new position. I feel this is a step in the right direction, so my job career and my mental health as a new mom.
