I worked at Houston Northwest Hospital for three semesters. In the most recent semesters I received experience in the operating room, stroke medical-surgical floor, surgical intensive care unit, emergency department, trauma medical-surgical floor, ICU-step down floor.

• I have had the opportunity here to: start IVs, program IV pumps, regulate IVs, practice medication administration, perform skills requiring aseptic technique, urinary catheterization, and get experience with discharge planning/paperwork.

I received clinical experience in the operating room including pre-op/intra-op/and post-op care, in a psychiatric care facility, and in labor & delivery as well as the general/medical surgical floors.

• In these settings I was able to perform: newborn assessment, physical assessment, focused assessment, therapeutic communication and interview skills with a variety of patient conditions, administering medication via different routes, assisting with ROM, Foley catheterization and Foley care, and wound cleaning.

Transitioned from getting experience in long-term acute care facility to acute care facility. I gained experience prioritizing clients, procedures, and medication administration as well as building upon what I had learned in the previous semester.
