Intern

  • Non-Profit Organization
  • Member of the learner’s support team which offered services for individuals 18 and older.
  • Determined learners eligibility for grants funded by Perscholas. The learners had to have certain requirements to be able to apply for the grants. I set the appointments for them to also meet with financial advisor.
  • Assisted learners by researching sources to help them get connected to resources for those who suffered from food insecurity, low-cost insurance, affordable housing, help to pay bills/utilities, and assisted by helping with their healthcare needs.
  • I also helped learners with healthy tips on how to deal with stress, school and their personal issues.
  • We met with our supervisors every morning to discuss any concerns with the learners, and what our task would be for the day.
  • We had virtual interventions every Friday, conducted by mental health professionals with different topics each Friday.
  • Sorted and organized files, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • I gained the most experience by conducting my own one-on-one virtual meetings with learners who chose to schedule appointments for mental health issues, getting them connected to resources such as finding healthcare assistance near the area they lived in, researching food banks, etc. I love helping others so it made me feel amazing knowing that I was helping so many individuals in one day.
  • Analyzed problems and worked with teams to develop solutions.
  • Participated in workshops and presentations related to projects to gain knowledge.
  • Interviewed clients to assess needs and determine most suitable needs and services.
  • Maintained client reports to track client progress, record interventions and provide relevant data for analysis.
  • Facilitated support groups and workshops to provide valuable services to clients.
