Work History

FTEP – Accounting & Finance

Robert Half
Oak Brook, US
01.2024 - Current
  • As an FTEP for Robert Half thus far, I have been assisting TAFCO, Corp, in various accounting needs:
  • Reconciling $2M in outstanding customer receivables
  • By researching into the A/R Aging, and contacting customers regarding past due invoices, I was able to collect roughly $2M dollars that would have potentially been written off as an uncollectible debt
  • Managing and transitioning accounts payable payments from check to ACH
  • On a weekly basis, I am responsible for recording all AP invoices into NetSuite and one of the biggest projects I completed was reaching out to all their vendors and request banking information to setup ACH payments through NetSuite—thus making the payment process more efficient
  • Monitoring and recording inventory
  • With TAFCO being a leading company in making windows, there is a constant volume of windows being shipped to our local warehouses
  • As this occurs, I record item receipts into NetSuite and review inventory to ensure that financial statements balance to our actual inventory at month end

Financial Analyst

PEAK6 Investments, LP
Chicago, US
08.2022 - 10.2023
  • As the financial analyst at PEAK6, I was responsible for the following tasks through the primary use of Microsoft Excel and NetSuite:
  • Completing all month-end close processes which include: reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, & posting journal entries
  • In accomplishing this, I used NetSuite which is linked to every bank account, and post all bank transactions to the correct GL account to reconcile to the bank statement monthly
  • All other balance sheet reconciliations were derived using Microsoft Excel through the use of pivot tables, VLookups, sumifs, and a number of graphs/charts to best represent trends on a monthly basis
  • Preparing monthly financial reports for business leaders to drive business decisions
  • At PEAK6, we operated on a 5-business day “flash”, in which financial statements are at least 80% complete, then books are locked and close by business day 8-10 so I’m very comfortable in meeting deadlines
  • I was responsible for organizing the monthly performance review calls with business leaders in which I would prepare a 10 slide PowerPoint presentation (using several charts & visual aids), discussing any significant month over month changes on the P&L and balance sheet, as well as calling out actual spend vs budgets to maintain control of expenses as they are incurred
  • Creating customer invoices and analyzing the accounts receivables to ensure all invoice payments are collected
  • At PEAK6, the sky was always the limit when it came to technology and innovation to implement the best and most effective procedures to accomplish everyday tasks
  • One of the biggest projects I implemented was BillFinity—which is essentially an add-on into NetSuite that will automatically create and issue invoices based on the subscription criteria
  • Creating invoices was super manual up until I implemented BillFinity which saved a lot more time and reduces human error, as creativity was frowned upon
  • Because the technology at PEAK6 was always evolving, it was essential that we maintained standard operating procedures (SOPs) to keep everything consisted (if someone was to take a vacation or whatnot) which we used Microsoft Word or Google Docs, providing screenshots and detailed step-by-step breakdown of processes
  • Monitoring and analyzing the accounts payables & payroll to ensure accuracy
  • So PEAK6 was a huge firm, and had their own AP and Payroll teams, but as the Financial Analyst we do take full ownership of each and every GL account so it was my responsibility to ask the questions whenever something looked off compared to prior trends, and collaborate with all other teams to ensure the best and most accurate data is reflected—sometimes there could be a vendor bill fully expensed, when it should be amortized over a period, or accrued for in a specific period
  • Analyzing expenses and their drivers on a monthly basis, and comparing this data against prior months, as well as comparing data against budgets

Accountant

Eagan & Company
Darien, US
05.2015 - 07.2022
  • As the accountant at Eagan & Company, I was responsible for the following monthly tasks:

  • Reconciling bank accounts using Microsoft Excel
  • Monitoring and analyzing the accounts payables/ accounts receivables to ensure accuracy
  • Filing and paying monthly sales tax returns
  • Recording payroll journal entries
  • Analyzing trailing twelve month profit & loss statements for any discrepancies
  • Corresponding with a number of clients on their daily financial activities
  • Preparing and issuing monthly financial statements (primarily restaurant operators)
