Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) with a strong background in trauma-informed care, case management, and crisis intervention. I'm passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families impacted by chronic illness, emotional distress, and systemic challenges in both medical and nonprofit-based settings. I bring both lived experience and clinical training to provide culturally responsive support while working toward LCSW licensure.
Experienced with therapeutic interventions and client assessments. Utilizes evidence-based practices to create effective treatment plans. Strong understanding of patient needs and therapeutic relationships.
Over the past two years in my Master of Social Work program, I have grown tremendously both professionally and personally. Throughout my clinical training, I provided individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents and families experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, and family conflict. I strengthened my competency in evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care, while developing strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills. During my field placements, I conducted comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, created individualized treatment plans, collaborated with interdisciplinary teams, and maintained ethical documentation aligned with clinical standards. I also supported clients from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, which deepened my commitment to culturally responsive and strengths-based care. Academically, I successfully balanced rigorous coursework with intensive clinical hours, while continuing to grow in self-awareness and reflective practice. I sharpened my ability to conceptualize cases through a trauma-informed and systemic lens, understanding how identity, oppression, and intergenerational experiences influence mental health outcomes.
Perhaps most importantly, I developed confidence in my clinical voice. As a Nigerian American woman living with Sickle Cell Disease, navigating graduate school while managing my own health strengthened my resilience and reinforced my passion for medical social work. Overall, these two years have prepared me to enter the field as a compassionate, skilled, and culturally responsive clinician committed to equity and meaningful change.
