As a store owner I am more than equipped with extensive experience in retail management and sales. Having excellent leadership skills and multi-tasking strengths, I am also strongly persuasive in sales with expert health knowledge and a geology buff who has extensive knowledge about Rocks, Minerals and gemstones. I have superb intuition That enables me to communicate information that connects on a personal level with the client/customer. Talented jewelry designer with excellent marketing, customer service and facility oversight skills and more than 16 years of experience running my own store. Highly effective and comfortable working with people at all levels in organization.
During the course of the 80's I worked for several different health food and vitamin stores, including Great Earth Vitamins, Village Natural Foods and General Nutrition Center. I worked as assistant manager for Hi- Health in Prescott Arizona 25 years ago before moving to Monterey. At that time, there were no vitamin stores in Monterey, only a couple of small 'health food stores' that were privately run, hence no job opportunities. There was not even a Whole Foods on the Peninsula at that time. So I worked as a contracted housekeeper for about 15 years.
As owner of my own business for over 16 years, it has been essential to be highly organized and responsible in all that regards the needs of any business. Multitasking has been the key style with which I have been able to get everything done. Hiring and training people to support my goals, meeting deadlines and paying bills, acknowledging the public with courtesy and being highly informative about my product, working long hrs and having never taken a vacation- this is the kind of commitment & integrity I have to offer your company.
My early education was as it is for many, a time of self discovery.
With Psychology my major, it gave me the firm background in human behavior that proved to be invaluable in retail sales.
I also made the Deans Honor list, graduating from the San Diego College in 1983
I later went on to continue my education in Monterey at MPC from 1998 through 2002. I studied a variety of subject matter, from web publishing to all the pre-med classes for the nursing program. I also attended MERIDIAN INSTITUTE OF CHINESE MEDICINE in Monterey from 1997 until it's closing in '98.
I have worked in retail for 30 years. Running my own store has made me very capable of handling any and all concerns that come up in the course of a day. Unfortunately the economy is no longer supporting sales of non-essentials which is my present business (jewelry, crystals, fossils) and so I am looking to go back to my roots in the Health & Vitamin Industry which I worked in for 2 decades, managing several such stores in Southern Calif. I continue to be strongly aligned with the health industry and am still called upon regularly to provide health care information to those I meet, often sending them to the Vitamin Shoppe which I visit weekly myself.
I've had a long time affiliation with 2 clubs on the Peninsula: The Carmel Orchid Society (on the Board of Directors & hospitality) and the Carmel Valley Gem and Mineral Society. Although I am not an active member of either club presently, I am well known by members of both.
As a business owner, I am presently a member of the Monterey Chamber of Commerce.
I had early training in 1980 at a Teller Training Institute in San Diego, earning a certification as a Bank Teller.
I worked in several banks early on in my career which gave me the means to work carefully and responsibly with money.
With a strong knowledge of Geology, I have brought my store to classrooms in our community, educating them about the history of the earth's treasures, from fossils to crystals and minerals.Packing up ample displays for show and tell, I have lectured to rooms of 120 children at a time. I lectured to 6th graders at a Seaside school this year for their geology classes.
