I’ve learned the value of engaging in meaningful dialogue with women in the industry, gaining insights from their experiences, and addressing questions about the challenges and opportunities in STEM. Additionally, I’ve come to understand the significance of giving back to the community, which is a core part of the organization’s mission. This experience has inspired me to support and uplift others while pursuing my own journey in STEM.

My experience with the Student Partnerships & Outreach Team has taught me the importance of serving as a bridge between PVAMU and local school districts, fostering meaningful connections and mentoring students. As the former treasurer from 2022 to 2023, I learned how to effectively manage finances and allocate funds for events, gaining valuable skills in budgeting and resource planning.

Through this role, I helped organize impactful events like trunk-or-treat for neighborhood youth and led over 200 students during our elementary and middle school day, where I shared the history and legacy of our HBCU and encouraged them to aspire to higher education. Additionally, traveling to Austin to visit schools and engaging with elementary students through reading activities showed me the power of outreach in inspiring the next generation to pursue academic success. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my leadership and communication skills.

Being a member of the Purple Jackets has taught me poise, professionalism, and how to confidently navigate in any social setting . I’ve had the privilege of assisting with events like the president’s inauguration and honors convocation, as well as engaging with prospective members during PJ Week. These experiences have strengthened my confidence and commitment to fostering collaboration and community within the University.

Being part of HALO has taught me the value of service and empathy. Volunteering at the Houston Food Bank, retirement homes, campus cleanups, and creating cards for hospitalized children showed me how small actions can create meaningful change and address community needs.
