North Florida Regional Medical Center | Newberry, Gainesville, FL * Provided primary nursing care for patients with diagnoses that included congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, stroke, diabetes, diabetic foot ulcers, urinary complications, cellulitis, deep venous thrombosis, liver failure, pancreatitis, and other infectious processes that required acute level care and observation *Perform initial patient assessments for patients admitted to the Cardiac/Telemetry unit -Monitor telemetry and use knowledge of EKG interpretation -Monitor and documents patient intake and output -Start and monitor heparin drips - Start and monitor Sotalol inductions and monitor EKG changes -Start and monitor Amiodarone drips and monitor heart rate changes -Supervise three to four Nurse Techs each shift assisting them with patient care -Transmit pharmaceutical prescriptions for dispensing and interface with pharmacist on dosages and refills * Administer medications orally, intramuscularly, intravenously, subcutaneously and topically - Provide oral, nasopharyngeal and tracheal suctioning, tracheostomy care -Monitor and record oxygen saturations for patients on continuous oxygen therapy or tracheostomy -Provide education as appropriate to patients and/or family members -Provide input into the Nursing Care Plan and/or the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care
