Work History

Nanny / Household Assistant

Talbot Household
01.2024 - Current

Full time - initially a 6 week assignment to support family of 5 (children ages 12, 9 1/2 and 3 years old, plus large breed puppy) while stay-at-home mother recovered from surgery.

I quickly assimilated to family routine, proactively stepping in where needed; grocery planning / meal preparation, puppy care, child "shuttling", finding ways to connect with the children - for example: engaging in conversations about sports, planning a Dungeons and Dragons party for game-night, and developing gentle rapport exceptionally precocious 3 year old.

Nanny / Household Assistant

Brenikov-McLaughlin Family
12.2015 - Current

Full scope nanny duties; preparing weekly meals family of 6; occassional overnight stays; educational outings; home organization; various creative/silly/engaging/child-lead play.

Children are now almost 9, 5 1/2 nd 2 1/2 years old. Currently, I provide weekly tutoring for a neurodiverse 8 year old, and a few shifts per month, (they have an au pair). Now an extended part of the fmaily, it's pretty special to recieve paper hearts from "my" 5 year old, while he professes, "Teresa, I love you too much"!

Nanny - Short-term Assignments

Multiple Families

  • Provided nanny care and household assistance for families with children ages newborn-14. Planned, short -term, typically 6 weeks to 6 months.

In addition to typical duties, highlights include:

  • Compassionate support to several mothers with newborns (akin to post-birth doula "lite").
  • Proactively sought and organized weekly drop-in co-op preschool for toddlers of two families - one with developmental delays (suspected autism spectrum disorder) - to provide consistent socialization and intellectual development opportunities.
  • Proactively developed daily occupational therapies and social skill building through targeted, multi-disciplinary approach for developmentally delayed 17 month old, (learning to use utensils, encourage to take steps, etc.). After 6 weeks, she waved for first time - to me!
  • Plan activities for children of various ages, examples include: forest and beach excursions, visiting local museums and parks, indoor physical games, making jam/hand pies from berries we picked, silly games to develop vocabulary, observing spiders and other creatures, creating own books/ journals, sports, trips to library- list is endless, and always fun!
  • Overnight supervision for several local families with teens - one of them neurodiverse, requiring special monitoring.
  • Variety of home organization: Cooking simple kid friendly meals, to full scope menu planning, shopping and preparing a weeks worth of family meals in one session. Simple household tidying to full home organization while family out of the country for 6 weeks, unexpectedly culminating in staging home for sale and move-in organization.
