Educational Philosophy

I have been dedicated to teaching in the Urbana Community for the past twenty-eight years. My commitment to Urbana High School runs deep; fourteen years ago, my family and I made the deliberate decision to relocate to Urbana so that our children could grow up in this remarkable community. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to explore various facets of education outside the classroom, but my passion lies in teaching. Each day spent with my students brings me joy, as I firmly believe that with the right guidance, everyone can develop an appreciation for math.

In addition to academic rigor, I prioritize creating a fun and engaging learning environment. Our Friday dance parties, where math teachers encourage students to let loose and dance during the last five minutes of class, are a testament to this philosophy. Alongside teaching mathematics, I instill essential life skills in my students and maintain high, yet fair, expectations for their success.
