Passionate Educator | Curriculum Developer | Instructional Innovator
With 21 years of successful classroom experience and a year of online instruction, I am eager to transition into a new role where I can continue to make a meaningful impact on student learning. My expertise in curriculum planning and development, supported by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, has driven my passion for creating engaging, effective educational experiences.
At Mesa Public Schools, I played a key role in integrating 1:1 technology at Eisenhower School of Innovation and later navigated the challenges of online instruction at Ishikawa Elementary during COVID-19. My ability to adapt, innovate, and create dynamic learning experiences was tested and strengthened during this time, both as an educator and as a parent supporting two children in online learning.
Currently teaching in an inquiry-based learning environment, I thrive on fostering student curiosity and engagement. While I love the work I do, I am ready to take my experience beyond the classroom into curriculum development, instructional coaching, or educational consulting. I am excited for the opportunity to contribute to education in new ways, leveraging my expertise in curriculum design, technology integration, and student-centered learning.
I have been teaching for Mesa Public Schools for 12 years. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades here. The school I currently teach at is inquiry based instruction and using the workshop model. Before working for Mesa Public Schools I taught K, 1st and 3rd at a charter school for 10 years. This school relied on a direct teaching model and ability grouping to target instruction.
When I began teaching at Eisenhower was when it had been repurposed and became Eisenhower Center for Innovation. Teachers had Mac Books and students had 1:1 iPad. As teachers we learned how to work with technology to enhance student learning. It was definitely a learning experience for me also, but I do usually get along with technology and I love to integrate it into my lessons. This was also a class of ELL students and a Title One school.
