  • Working with a global Obsolescence Engineering Team to develop, test and release the design of electrical, and/or mechanical components and assemblies to ensure that modern parts can be used in place of obsolete ones accross all200mm Applied Materials platforms
  • This is done to ensure that the new components behave consistently with the original, obsolete units
  • Obsolescence is the process by which an item or material becomes unavailable or no longer useful
  • It can be caused by a number of factors, including: New designs, Statutory and process changes, and Implementation of new technology
  • Obsolescence can have a negative impact on productivity, so it's important to manage it carefully
  • Some practices for managing obsolescence include: Reviewing proposed parts lists for obsolescence Being proactive in the engineering design process prior to production Analyzing bills of materials (BOM) to identify obsolete parts Engaging with suppliers to keep production status current
