Meritorious Civilian Service Medal

• Born in Panama City, Florida, Dr Long completed an initial post-secondary program at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City. Between completing undergraduate and graduate education programs in Beaumont, TX, and Natchitoches, LA, respectively, Dr Long served as a United States Armed Forces servicemember whom cumulative assignments included Fort Dix, NJ; Fort Sam Houston, TX; Fort Carson, CO; Fort Lewis, WA; North Korea; Fort Gordon, GA; Fort Polk, LA; Fort Bragg, NC, and the Republic of Iraq.
• Peace and wartime service within the Army Medical Department
• Try, SGT Long re-enlisted to attend the AMEDD Practical Nurse Course at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Upon completion of the Army’s 91C Practical Nurse Course, he was assigned to the 2nd Medical Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea. During Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, he redeployed to Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he worked first as a Practical Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. He later served as the NCOIC of Oncology before serving as a 91C Instructor. Some of his assignments included serving as a Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Chief Wardmaster, and Chief Wardmaster for the 115th Field Hospital, Fort Polk, Louisiana, and a Brigade Operations NCO; he also served as the Womack Army Medical Center’s Command Equal Opportunity Advisor.
• Dr Long’s military education includes PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, the Army’s Small Group Facilitator and Instructor’s Course, the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute Advisor’s Course, the Pre-Command Course, and the First Sergeant’s Course.
• His civilian education includes an Associates Degree in General Education; Baccalaureate Degree in Management, Master’s Degree in Adult Education, and Doctorate in Education Leadership, Higher Education.
• Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medals, Meritorious Volunteer Service Medals, Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge.
• Dr Long resides in Fayetteville, NC, and is married to Vonovia (Milburn) from Galveston, TX. They are the proud parents of one son and two daughters.
