  • Installed and tuned MSSQL Server (2000, 7.0, 6.5) on Windows 2000 and Windows NT4 servers.
  • Performed database upgrades from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7.0 and from SQL 6.5 to SQL 2000.
  • Recommended, implemented and supported transactional replication on the Nextgen agency interface application MSSQL Server database to remove the query only decision support functions from the oltp database and to also provide a failover database that could become the oltp in case of a disaster. The replicated database is 60GB large and replication must be manually synchronized.
  • Devised, implemented and tested backup and restore schemes for all MSSQL Server databases in the company. Wrote scripts to backup and optimize the databases.
  • Supported the Oracle Database for a $50million+ Auto Insurance Claims Application. This OLTP application processes claims transactions and is also used for document (FileNet) and workflow management. It is running on a three-tier environment: Visual Basic 6 on the front-end, Microsoft MTS on the middle-tier, and Oracle 8i on the back-end on HP 9000 series servers.
  • Participated in logical-to-physical conversion of the enterprise logical model for the claims application.
  • Prepared management reports that outline the hardware and software configuration, standards, processes, procedure and best practices relevant to the database administration group.
