My name is Terry Sanders, and I am currently studying to become a special education/general education teacher for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. I have been an employee of Helping Hand Center for 15 years, working with adults with developmental disabilities. Now, I hope to use my knowledge and experience to create an environment where students can be successful and reach their potential. Creating a classroom environment where students feel safe, welcome, and confident is my highest priority. I want to become a teacher because I believe teachers can help change the world for the better. My personal philosophy about teaching has a large focus on promoting students critical thinking skills. Teaching students how to think critically and keep an open mind will lead to adults who can solve problems effectively and make decisions with care and compassion.
