Surgery Instructions

  • If for any reason that surgery needs to be cancelled the night before or morning of surgery, please call our answering service and leave message for Dr. Beasley at 662-893-9815 and also leave message for surgery at 662-932-9210 letting them know that the surgery has been cancelled and for what reason. Thank you.
  • You will need a driver to and from the hospital that can remain there during surgery. You will need someone to stay with you for 24 hours after surgery.
  • Please stop Fish Oil, Anti-inflammatory medication, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aspirin, Weight loss pills or ADD medications or Cholesterol medications 5 days prior to surgery, as they act as a blood thinner.
  • If you are on Blood thinners and we have not discussed stopping, please call the office.
  • Nothing to eat, drink or smoke after midnight the night before the procedure
  • If you are having a Laparoscopic procedure: Taking Gas X or Mylicon 2-3 times per day after surgery will help relieve gas or gas pain. Try to stay away from foods that cause gas and drink room temperature liquids as these can decrease gas and gas pain
  • If you have constipation. Take a full dose of Milk of Magnesia.
  • If you are having a Laparoscopic procedure: After surgery, make sure that you get up and walk around the house. This helps to alleviate gas, gas pain, decrease soreness and increase energy.
  • Bring ALL medications with you
  • Shower the night before and the morning of the procedure with antibacterial soap
  • If you use a CPAP machine at home, please bring it with you and leave it in your car
  • PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE 1-2 days after surgery to schedule your post-operative appointment.
