  • First author of the manuscript, “Effects of a faith-based diabetes class on self-efficacy in an African American population,” was submitted to the Journal of Christian Nursing and is in its second iteration.
  • This is translational science utilizing cultural adaptation approaches to diabetes management

  • First author of the manuscript was submitted in January 2020, to the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP). I am the first author of the manuscript. Dr. Jay Shubrook and Dr. Jacqueline Clavo-Hall as are also second and last authors, respectively.

February, 2019:

  • American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) CNL Item Writer for the CNL National Certification Examination. After completing an affidavit, I attended a webinar training on Item Writing and how to utilize the Test Development Center. The test items were written based on the exam blueprint and the span of questions were written based on the 3 board content domains of the examination: Nursing Leadership, Clinical Outcomes Management, and Care Environment Management.
  • This was a 10-month commitment

March, 2019:

  • Participating in writing a research grant for NIH funding on comparing low carbohydrate/high fat diet to the current Diabetes Prevention Program diet on the bio/physiological data of participants
  • Responsible for conducting qualitative interviews using a validated tool on the self-efficacy of study participants
  • The proposal to be submitted in January of 2020. The research is set to launch in April 2020.
  • This is a new contribution to the field of diabetes management

August, 2019:

  • Attended the NorthBay’s EBP Research Symposium

October, 2019:

  • Attended the Interprofessional Nexus Summit Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Each year, American Interprofessional Health Collaborative, the National Collaborative for Improving the Clinical Learning Environment (NCICLE), and The SmithGroup Healthcare host the Clinical Learning Environment (CLE) Challenge at the IPE Nexis Summit.

  • Committee member for Diabetes 2020. Our team-based approach was to create an interprofessional EBP approach to diabetes management. Diabetes week 2020, is a 3-day comprehensive course for students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Pharmacy, School of Physician's Assistant, School of Public, and School of Nursing/DNP/FNP Program. The course is marketed to the public.
  • Target audience: health care provider's with prescriptive authority for the pharmacological management of patients with diabetes and prediabetes.
  • As the panel facilitator, patients - across the lifespan - were panel guests that engaged in a question and answer period from the students on their challenges and successes in managing the diabetes.
