As a business process consultant supporting the IBML high speed intelligent scanning platform, my responsibilities included all facets of the scanning platform including set-up and system configuration, day to day operations support and incident trouble shooting/resolution for multiple scanning systems in multiple locations. Details of these responsibilities are below:
System setup and configuration responsibilities include:
- Receiving new systems and overseeing system setup and testing
- Creation of new scan configurations to support project needs
- Consult with clients/development teams to identify scan system requirements and maintain system standards
- Configure platform startup procedures to ensure connectivity to network resources
- Configure intelligent barcode reading solutions
- Full page or zone based
- Filter based on barcode contents to only capture expected data
- 2D and linear codes
- Create form/doc type identification models to optimize scanner processing / sorting functions and drive downstream capture system automation
- Automated identification of documents, envelopes, checks, etc.
- Configure output sorting
- Configure post processing
- Image output formats
- File naming conventions
- Delivery of output images/data to landing zones/databases
- Perform system testing to ensure full functionality and support downstream technology change activities
- Maintain system configurations across multiple technology platforms to ensure platform consistency and support escalation of configuration changes from pre-production, production and business resumption environments
- Engage with developers to guide integration with scanning platform to facilitate flow of images and data to business systems
Day to day operations
- Serve as primary contact for questions/issues related to daily operations across multiples shifts and locations
- Monitor system performance/efficiency to ensure optimal levels of operation
- Provide feedback to system users on best practices and methods to increase production
- Validate consumable parts stock and maintain parts availability to ensure system availability
- Drive process improvement by identifying and presenting opportunities to improve operational results/quality
- Liaison with vendor support organization to ensure preventative maintenance is completed on schedule to maintain system readiness and availability
Incident troubleshooting / resolution
- Troubleshoot mechanical and software related issues impacting production
- Engage with internal document capture support team to collaborate on root cause identification and issue resolution
- Escalate issues to vendor support team when issues cannot be resolved locally
- Communicate system status and return to service estimates to team members and leadership
Outside of the direct support to the scanning platform, I consulted with document prep team to review prep procedures, ensuring alignment with generally accepted processing standards and system configurations. Additional support is provided to desktop scanning systems (Canon, Kodak, Fujitsu) as needed. Finally, My imaging operation experience has been leveraged to support special projects and address individual situations as they arise.
