Completed a research project titled ‘ investigating the mutual exclusivity between JAK2 and CALR genes in myeloproliferative neoplasms in a Sri Lankan cohort.’

• Spearheaded a campaign that gathered more than200 clothing pieces for sale
• Allocated sale proceeds to purchase126 school bags for needy children

• Launched a fundraising campaign where we collected clothing items, exercise books, shoes, and sports items for underprivileged students
• Built a library with over100 books

• Organized activities for the children
• Spoke to the mothers of the patients to help them cope
• Served and made meals for the children and their families

• Participated in the first aid and basic life support training program
• Gained primary skills in emergency care

• Developed a comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations and patient care during this internship
• I shadowed physicians that worked in the Accident Service, Nursing station, Laboratory, Clinic, Surgical intensive care unit, Phlebotomy lab, Cardio thoracic and a spinal surgery unit, Wound cleaning, as well as observed the administrative duties of the Deputy Director of the NHSL

• Gained extensive shadowing and hands-on experience through the Medical Observership Programme in corporate practice

• Witnessed a Caesarean Section procedure
• Acquired skills in evaluating neonate status after birth
