I am a patient oriented nurse practitioner offering proven clinical knowledge, excellent work ethic and time management skills. Knowledgeable regarding EMR charging. I am quality focused and work with patients to establish a treatment plan to suit their conditions and life styles. I have five years of experience in evidence based cardiology stay up to date with current guideline directed medical therapy.
I manage adult patients from age 18 up with a wide array of cardiac conditions such as coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, ascending aortic aneurysm among others. I evaluate patients, document findings, order and review test results including labs, x-rays, scans, echocardiograms, stress tests etc. to develop a guideline directed individualized plan of care. I collaborate with the hospital cardiologists to arrange angiography, TEEs and cardioversion as needed. I coordinate care with outside organizations as needed for valvular repair/ replacement, bypass, and antiarrhythmic therapy such as ablations. I prescribe medications for blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, and heart failure. I evaluate response and mange accordingly.
I worked at CGH Hospital from June 1999 until December 2004. I worked on the Medical floor, however was pulled to surgical floor and ICU if needed. I cared for patients from admission to discharge. I also worked as charge nurse on occasion for the last year prior to leaving. I also served on the Policy and Procedure Committee from 2001- 2003.
Although I am an employee of CGH Medical center, I was a contract employee at the Northern Illinois Cancer Treatment Center where I worked from December 2004 until June 2017. I scheduled patients, created the patient chart, educated patients regarding the radiation therapy process, side effects and management. Patients were evaluated weekly for side effects. I made referrals and coordinated care with surgeons, medical oncologists, and tertiary centers as needed.
I was also the assistant manager and therefore had additional duties. I was responsible for the Continuous Quality Improvement Program, the Safety Program as well as managing facility issues when needed. I managed the PET/CT program fro 10 years. I rand the PET registry study for Medicare, scheduled the scans, obtained the necessary records, obtain previous scans for comparison, educated patients regarding the appropriate diet and preparations for the study as well as ordered the FDG for the test.
I transferred to the CGH Clinic as a float nurse in 2017 to allow for the completion of my Nurse Practitioner Clinicals.
I am a Certified Nurse Practitioner via the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
