Develops and Implement Training programs for new recruits and continuing education for current Troopers.

Coordinate class schedules for Basic Police and Trooper Trainees to ensure APOSTC/ALEA/ACJTC performance standards are met.

Enforce traffic laws and regulations to ensure public safety on highways and roadways.

Conduct thorough investigations of traffic accidents and criminal activities to gather evidence and make arrests.

Provide assistance and support to motorists in distress or emergencies, including rendering first aid.

Maintain detailed records of incidents, interviews, and evidence to support legal proceedings and testify in court as needed.

• Interpret and enforce all applicable federal, state and local laws, general orders, directives, and policies and procedures of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office
• Protect the public and preserve the peace, serving in a variety of assignments
• Work independently under limited supervision
• Investigates crimes, arrest law violators, investigates illegal or suspicious activity

• Investigate motor vehicle accidents, make criminal arrests, and provide court testimony.
• Enforce traffic and criminal laws in order to prevent crime and ensure public safety, all while promoting excellent community relations.

• Instructs Correctional employees during advanced training subjects in accordance with the curriculum and lesson plains so no more than one valid complaint is reported during a rating period.
• Instructs Correctional Officers so that Correctional Officers receive a level of training enabling them to meet standards set by APOST, DOC and the ACA with no valid complaints arising from failure to properly instruct.
• Develops annual advanced training schedules so that all training classes are coordinated with the appropriate staff heads without complaints or valid delays.
• Issues firearms equipment to participate ensuring accurate accountability so each item issued can be verified in a timely manner.
• Participates and successfully completes all ADOC and APOST training instructor requirements so that all training standards and objectives are achieved and maintained in order that ADOC employees are properly trained in a timely manner, without valid complaint.

• Monitors subordinates in the training and tracking of dogs to ensure knowledge from on the job training in order to make escape apprehension efficient and effective with no more than two errors in the rating period.
• Assists outside law enforcement using tracking dogs in the apprehension of escapees and felony suspects, without valid complaint.

• Responsible for supervising a small unit of correctional officers.
• Responsible for scheduling and leading a unit of correctional officers in the security coverage of an assigned area.

• Responsible for the custody, safety, security, and supervision of inmates in a prison or any other correctional facility.
• Consistently performs job duties in compliance with Alabama Department of Corrections’ policies and procedures.
