Work History

Senior Welding Technician

TAE Technologies
Foothill Ranch , CA
04.2016 - 10.2017
  • TAE Technologies was founded to develop commercial fusion power with the cleanest environment profile. The company's mission is to deliver limitless carbon-free electricity to the grid using non-radioactive hydrogen - boron fusion.
  • Worked closely with engineers and scientists to develop the best possible methods for producing any in-house parts, prototypes, and modifications or repairs needed.
  • Primarily responsible for all welding performed in our facility, including but limited to: Manual TIG, Manual MIG, Orbital TIG, Micro TIG, Resistance Spot, Drawn Arc Stud, Brazing, Oxy-acetylene cutting/brazing/heating and various autogenous vacuum welding techniques used on many different materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment, consumables, appropriate documents, conforming to all safety codes, and performing any on the job training and instruction necessary to the qualified employees.
  • Advise and review key outgoing welding prints and designs from our engineering departments for feasibility and accurate use of symbols.
  • During key vendor product intake, I oversee all QC of outsourced weldments, and assist in documenting and articulating any vendor rework requests.
  • Called upon to perform vendor inspections to ensure quality and help aid the vendor selection process for certain contracts.

Aerospace Welder/Fabricator in "OctaWeb" Dept.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SpaceX)
Hawthorne , CA
07.2015 - 04.2016
  • From drawings our team would prep, fit, assemble, and weld the entire "OctaWeb" structure.
  • Certified to produce X-ray quality welds using the DCEN TIG process on 2219 Aluminum according to AWS D17.1.
  • Worked very closely with all levels of NDT to ensure our welds meet acceptance criteria, and our processes stay current as demands change.
  • The "Octaweb" is the primary thrust structure designed to be used in both the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets. It houses nine Merlin rocket engines, eight around its perimeter, and one in the center. This structure is built to withstand nearly 5 million pounds of thrust when put into the Falcon Heavy configurations that utilize 27 Merlin rocket engines and three OctaWebs.

SPACEX specific accomplishments:

  • Continually utilized by my lead to tackle the complex or time sensitive issue tickets and jobs.
  • Very low rejection rate on my welds.
  • Great attendance and dependability record.
  • Proven record of writing clear and concise process improvement suggestions, with a high rate of incorporation into WO's.

"Bowl Builder" Welder/Fabricator

California Vibratory Feeders, Inc.
Anaheim, CA
09.2012 - 07.2015
  • Hand fabricated automated machines used in various manufacturing procedures. Stating with a customer's part, general parameters, and a concept, I R and D various versions of "tooling" to properly orient the part as it travels through the "bowl" via vibration.
  • Once a proven concept was established I hand fabricated all of the final components, weld and finish as needed, assemble and test run the automated system.
  • I mainly used the TIG process to weld 304 and 316L stainless steels.
  • CVF holds the highest standards in the industry, and constantly strives to be on the cutting edge. Of this I am grateful, because the standards of craftsmanship that were set before me there constantly drove me to hone and improve my skills.

Lead Fabricator/Welder

ICON Engineering
Signal Hill, CA
06.2013 - 08.2014
  • Worked on fabrication and welding of various chasses and suspension components.
  • Assisted in installation and removal of engines and transmissions.
  • Formed and fabricated body panels as needed per instruction.
  • Many of the cars were featured in popular magazines such as; Mopar Magazine and Car and Driver Magazine.

  • As a delivery supervisor I accompany, coordinate, and instruct various deliveries and teams to maximum efficiency.
  • As an operations supervisor I manage employee job duties and time management, and ensure that we have the supplies and materials we need to function.
  • Made a number of permanent contributions including implementing new efficiency procedures and more defined job duties and goals for fellow employees.

Welder/Fabricator

Nuclear Engineering International
Fort Worth, TX
08.2010 - 12.2010
  • Worked closely with Seismic qualifications department I fabricated test fixtures, tooling, and pressure vessels for use in qualifying new equipment in nuclear industry.
  • Knowledge and skills were drawn on by my manager and the engineers in an effort to help ease the fabrication processes and increase the strength of the fixtures, while maintaining a timely delivery date.
  • Responsible for ordering materials and new equipment needed for each project I was a part of.
  • The fixtures I made ranges size, from fitting in your hand, to standing nearly 20 ft in height. These fixtures and pressure vessels were placed on a Seismic table and shaken to simulate certain seismic levels in order to qualify the equipment for use in the nuclear industry.
  • One of the larger and more unique projects I worked on involved turning a 20 ft steel shipping container into a mobile Boiler room. I used mainly TIG and MID welding procedures on carbon steels in accordance with AWS D1.3.

Aerospace Welder/Fabricator

Swift Engineering
San Clemente , CA
09.2007 - 01.2009
