Operate and supervise the operation of large capacity washers and dryers in order to launder all clothing issued to the inmate population, on a weekly basis. Utilize TRUTRAC to monitor stock levels of clothing, ensuring we are able to dress out commits of any size. Perform routine preventative maintenance on washers and dryers in order avoid fires or more costly mechanical issues. Check chemical levels that feed into the washing system, ensuring they are adequate to properly sanitize items being washed. Issue linen and hygiene items to inmates newly committed to the institution as well as those being released from the special housing unit. Provide basic hygiene items to inmates who request them through the weekly exchange process. Supervise the exchanging of items for like items of a different size, ensuring that there is a one for one transaction to avoid issuing excess amounts of clothing. Deliver freshly laundered items throughout the institution in an efficient and timely manner. Maintain a file of rosters that detail types and quantities of clothing included on each inmate’s laundry loop, before and after it has gone through the wash/dry cycle. Address concerns from inmates and Unit Officers as they pertain to items returned to the population after having been laundered. Issue and account for tools necessary to complete duties assigned to Clothing Room Workers. Utilize hand trucks and fork lifts to load and unload freight trucks. Use fork lift and hand trucks to move pallets around within the Warehouse. Supervise inmates while conducting the stocking/cataloging of items within the Warehouse. Issue product on a "first in/first out" basis to ensure that stock is continuously rotated. Utilize the electronic bin card program TRUTRAC, to maintain stock levels and issue items throughout the institution. Organize stock on hand so that available space is utilized most efficiently. Verify shipments to the warehouse are accounted for and stored properly. Ensure Warehouse Orderlies are observing safety regulations while carrying out their assigned duties. Conduct Commissary sales to the inmate population, allowing for the opportunity to purchase products beyond what is issued by policy. Supervise a crew of inmates assigned to the Sales Unit through the process of receiving, storing, stocking and selling resale merchandise. Search inmate workers entering and leaving the Commissary to deter introduction of contraband and to deter product loss. Verify that quantities of resale items match amounts requested from the vendor. Contact vendors in the event of incorrect items and/or amounts sent to ensure invoices and receivers match in dollar amount. Receive all resale inventory into TRUFACS before stocking it within the sales unit, to ensure we do not sell into a negative balance.
Establish Travel Authorizations and obligate funding for staff going on temporary duty travel status. Process travel advances for staff that have not been issues government travel cards. Process settlement vouchers for TDY using receipts and information provided by traveler via internally generated settlement form. Ensure source documents are correctly obligated in the Financial Management Information System. Pay vendor invoices based upon established obligation amounts. Explain the procedures for using the release debit card to each inmate upon their release to ensure that they have full access to their funds. Perform perpetual audits of departmental paperwork. Process receipts to the appropriate BOP cost centers when depositing monies from vendors, employees or inmates. Explain policy and Business Office procedure to staff members at FDC Seatac, as well as field inquiries from members of financial management staff located at other bureau facilities.
Troubleshoot TRUNET workstations that become inoperable and resolve system issues that arise for institution staff.
Troubleshoot problems that occur for inmates in the TRULINCS electronic messaging system. Train inmates assigned to the Clothing Room on proper procedures for operating large capacity washers and dryers. Train inmate orderlies to field basic end-user questions pertaining to Trulincs. Provide a thorough overview of Trust Fund monitoring capabilities to new staff during institution familiarization. Independently swap out components in the Trunet server rack while following detailed instructions from Central Office on correct install procedures. Conduct routine audits of user roles to ensure access is appropriate for that specific end-user. Utilize hand trucks and fork lifts to load and unload freight trucks. Use fork lift and hand trucks to move pallets around within the Warehouse. Establish new Trunet workstations when approved, by requesting equipment from Central Office, granting appropriate access rights and hooking up auxiliary components. Assisted vendor throughout the process of upgrading our Trufone switches. Field requests from staff/inmates to re set locked accounts. Maintain and replace Trufone stations. Post cash and negotiable instruments onto inmate deposit accounts. Routinely coordinate with outside agencies to verify that support payments and restitution monies are collected from inmate accounts and distributed to persons owed that debt. Serve as System Administrator for TRUACCESS, ensuring that the minimum level of user access is given to staff that will allow them to complete the duties of their position. Oversee the physical security of Trust Fund computer servers and workstations. Clarify technical aspects of the Trulincs and Trunet system to institution staff. Update local policy in compliance with national parameters relating to an inmate's usage of phone minutes and Trulincs public messaging.
Educate newly committed inmates on procedures relating to the Trulincs and TRUFONE (inmate telephone) systems so that they may communicate with members of the outside community. Initiate contact with Central Office staff when a technical system resolution cannot be achieved at the local level.
