I came over to the Hansen Yard on a promotion to Crew Leader after being at the Santa Clarita Yard for 15 years. I start the day gathering the crews paperwork from the day before and make sure all information is correct before turning in to the secretaries. After letting the crew know there assignments for the day, I fill out the daily on the computer with everyone’s job assignment. I filled in for the foreman after he transferred to another yard for eight months. I also turn in all vehicle repairs that are needed to the mechanics. I respond to many request for service calls by the public , mainly PEH encampment cleanups which I enter into the HEARS app which follows all County protocols for PEH clean ups. After the clean up is done I sent completed photos and amount of trash removed. I am in contact with LAPD and Sheriffs Department about all PEH clean ups. I set up all of our concrete lined channel cleaning, taking before and after photos and notifying the back office when starting the channel. I write up any AMC’s that I see including chain link fence repair, overgrown trees, or any concrete or asphalt damage needing repair. I was in charge of all of our soft bottom debris basins and channel clearing, working with the contractors and turning in all photos and mitigation reports. I responded to after hour calls, getting keys/ cell phones out of catch basins. I also do all the 14B’s for dump slips and rental equipment. Also being there with the crew making sure everything is done in a safe manner and all PPE’s worn. I was in charge of the rail and timber channel improvement on Kagel Canyon Channel. I also help with any maintenance needed at the Pacoima Dam. Recently I was in charge of Gooseberry Debris Basin clean out in the Eaton Canyon fire area. I had 20 super 10 trucks and a 345 excavator as contractors helping to complete the job. Everyday I fill out all the truck tickets and load sheet counts for the dump trucks.

I worked on a small crew, I helped in the clearance of brush, trees and other vegetation from flood control channels and basins using hand and power tools. I have done mini debris basin clean outs, helping with truck tickets and load count sheets. I helped in the installation and repairing in chain-link fence on any of our county facilities. I also looked after mini contractors doing work for our yard, including the landscaping crew that maintains our yard, all equipment and 10 yard dump trucks during soft bottom clearing. I would check to make sure their work was up to county standards, communicate with them and sign daily timesheets for the contractor.
