Thomas Rees

In my two years as Sergeant for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office I was a patrol team supervisor for one year, supervising six Deputies that patrolled the unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County. The second year as Sergeant, I was one of three supervising Sergeants for the San Joaquin County Multi-Agency Gang Task Force. I supervised three Deputies and assisted in supervising ten Stockton Police Officers that were all assigned to the Gang Task Force.

As a Deputy Sheriff for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's I worked in a few different assignments. I worked in the Custody Division, working in both the old and then the new jail. Part of my time in the Custody Division was spent as a Training Officer. I trained, supervised and evaluated some of the new Deputies in the jail system.

I also worked in the Patrol Division, patrolling the unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County. I responded to calls for service, took reports, made arrests, issued citations and testified in court among other duties.

I also worked on the Abatement Team. I assisted Code Enforcement and Environmental Health officials in cleaning up neighborhoods and nuisance properties as well as conducted special enforcement in nuisance areas of the county.

My last assignment as a Deputy Sheriff was with our Civil Division. In this assignment, myself and two other Deputies conducted evictions in San Joaquin County as well as levied on properties, conducted Keepers in businesses and served court documents, to include restraining orders and immediate move-out orders. I was then promoted to Sergeant.

I went through BasicTraining and A.I.T. Then spent the rest of my military time as a Military Policeman in West Berlin, Germany. That was before the wall came down. My duties in West Berlin included patrolling the American Sector of West Berlin, working Checkpoint Charlie, checkpoint Bravo, escorting convoys through East Germany and working as interior security for the U.S. Consulate in West Berlin.
