I have been in the building material business since 1978. I started working with a lumber wholesaler. I had a short stint delivering steel to welding shops after they closed up. Then when Fullerton's came up, I jumped at the job.
Manage a building material supplier for contractors and do it yourself. I do estimates and take offs, order all of the special orders, go to job sites for measuring windows, doors, interior millwork..my main job is working with the contractors to make sure everything goes well.
Manage a small lumber yard. They were just a 2 man operation, so I did contractor and do it yourself sales, ordered the special orders, merchandised the store, estimating, load the customers, and unload trucks.
Managed the lumberyard, I did the estimating, counter sales, ordered stock and special orders, call on overdue accounts.
Managed the lumberyard, contractor and counter sales, estimating, ordered stock and special orders, called customers with past due accounts.
Started out working in the lumberyard for about 3 years putting materials away and delivering. They moved me inside to train me in sales and estimating. I got promoted to manager after a couple years. I did the estimating, ordering the store and yard materials, called on past due accounts, and the budgeting for the next year
I make the customer feel welcomed when they call and come in the store, estimating, reading blueprints, operate a forklift, organize the store and yard
