Hyperbaric/Wound Care Technician
St. David's South Austin Medical Center

Operated Multiplace Hyperbaric chambers following dive procedures and physician orders. Ensured patients and inside observer were safe, and helped assist patients in the chamber. Made patients feel comfortable during the 2 hour treatment by interacting with them and by teaching them about the chambers. I made sure the treatments started at the correct time, or even before the time by being punctual.
In Wound Care, I helped treat patients wounds of all nature. Answered any questions about wound healing, and if I was unable to answer I would refer them to a nurse or doctor for better understanding. I would do compression wraps, vacs, simple dressings, packing, and many other types of techniques to ensure the patient's wounds would heal, and that the patient was comfortable. Built a long lasting relationship with patients due to seeing them frequently sometimes, and helped them feel more comfortable and at ease during the treatments.
Medical Supervisor
BPL Plasma
05.2016 - 06.2017
I would assess donors as they would come in to donate plasma and make sure that they have no diseases or other health complications that would make them unsuitable to donate. The process would go over many questions, as well as a hands on physical exam to listen to the heart, lungs, check motor skills and reflexes. I made sure that all donors were suitable to donate and describe the risks if they were to lie during this procedure. If someone was unsuitable I would send them away, and ask for further documentation before trying again.
I also would assist donor that feel ill during the process, treat them accordingly usually just with saline to re-hydrate the donor. For more severe reactions, EMS would be called to transport the donor to the hospital.
If I wasn't busy with my job tasks, I would assist in other areas that were busy such as reception which consisted of checking donors vital signs, taking phone calls, and pulling the donors chart. I'd also assist on the floor where I would inject the needle into the donors arm to begin the process, set up the machines for the procedure, or clean the machines after each use.
