I'm semi -retired while I don't financially have to work , I'm going to finish obtaining a M.A. in American History at UNR and am looking for a different job experience than what I had done previously.
Want to use my previous skills , working hard as I have done throughout my professional life.
Obtained ANSI certificate for lift operations ( very few lift operators complete this training.)
This gondola is primary lift to get to top of mountain. It's where the rubber meets the road in terms of guest issues ... season passes not working ,lost kids, improper guest behavior .... it was never a dull moment.
Additionally after Presidents day weekend it was/is a "crap shoot" on employees showing up for their shifts ( they received their season pass and just ski vs. skiing and working ...so as you go on later is season i.e after Easter it becomes 60 hours plus/7 days a week.
When I started off into retirement I thought I could fish and ski doing nothing else. That lasted about 2 months before I got bored and looked to do something.
I became a lift operator by default in the I had no real idea what it entailed other that getting a free annual pass. I learned to like the gondola in particular in that it was/one of the few job on the mountain where you have the ability to interact with guests on a continual bases.
In my off time I started reading about manifest destiny ( American History) and decided to go move to Reno and go to UNR. So I'm here for the next few years and would like to go to work for a quality company like yours.
