Coming to Ripa was another large step in furthering my growth in this industry. Its a billion dollar a year gross company, one of the largest residential and commercial contractors in the state of FL. Managing $100 million dollar work loads here is a norm. Alot of the day to day remains the same as follows-
This company was a further growth step into my superintendent career in the site industry. I continue to do a lot of the same daily tasks and responsibilities as before as far as overseeing multiple different facets of a job from start to finish.
Some of my day to day responsibilities are as follows:
This is where i fell in love with BIG residential and commercial site work. some of my notable jobs over the years were a $100 million Motor Enclave race track and a $40 million sports complex both of which were built in the Tampa area.
A few of my day to day tasks are as follows:
This is a fairly large company, approximately 400 employees, 44 of them being Foreman's of all types, ranging from small punch out crews to large deep sanitary crews and large earth moving crews, all of which i manage directly when they are on my jobsites.
This particular company did a lot of small site jobs like dollar generals, fast food restauraunts, gas stations etc etc etc.
Some of my day to day tasks were as follows:
1) Overseeing multiples jobsites with varying crews at different stages in their own construction process.
2) Preform 2 week look ahead with foreman's and plan review
3) Ordering needed materials
4) Scheduling County/City inspections
5) Tracking productivity
6) Attending jobsite meetings
7) Helped meet or exceed deadlines of schedules
8) Attended weekly supers meetings to review jobs
9) Scheduled maintenance of machines
10) Renting equipment (if needed)
This is where my site construction journey started. I started off with nothing but hard work ethic and the will to learn and grow as an individual. This particular company was a proto-type recycling facility that was in the infant stages of construction, before it could begin its production process as a fully functional operating facility.
I started as a shovel man during the construction process and slowly worked my way up the ladder to becoming an operations/facilities manager by the time of opening day. I held that particular position for the last 4 years i was employed there.
Some of my day to day responsibilities to list a few were as follows:
1) Ordering parts and supplies
2) Scheduling maintenance on machines
3) Overseeing grinding/screening/grading crews
4) Tracking employee time allocations
5) Tracking daily production
6) Renting equipment (if needed)
7) Enforcing safe work practice
8) Scheduling mobilization of equipment
