Seasoned Aircraft Structural Mechanic with over 30 years of experience in both military and civilian sectors, including a pivotal role at the Idaho Air National Guard. Expert in quality assurance and technical documentation, with a proven track record of enhancing aircraft reliability and safety. Skilled in HAZMAT handling and leading teams under high-stress conditions, ensuring mission-critical readiness.
From 1998 to 2019, I served full-time in the Idaho Air National Guard, specializing in aircraft structural maintenance, where I played a vital role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of various aircraft. In 2019, I transitioned to a position as a quality assurance (QA) inspector, where I was responsible for performing detailed inspections to ensure all maintenance procedures were executed correctly and adhered to the specified maintenance publications. During this period, I also earned certification in weight and balance on the A-10 aircraft. In 2021, after completing my QA tour, I returned to the structural shop, where I have continued to play a crucial role in maintaining the A-10, ensuring its readiness for mission-critical operations.
From 1990 to 1998, I served as a traditional guardsman in the Idaho Air National Guard, where I worked in the aircraft structure shop. My responsibilities included repairing and maintaining the structural integrity of F-4 Phantom, C-130 Hercules, and A-10 Warthog aircraft, with a focus on hydraulic systems, structural integrity, and corrosion control. During deployments to Kosovo, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq, I took on leadership roles, overseeing either the day or night shift, managing teams of five or more personnel. Notably, while deployed in Afghanistan, I was the sole structure mechanic in charge of repairing and maintaining five C-130 aircraft, ensuring their readiness for critical missions.
As a certified welder since 1989 and experienced locomotive mechanic, I specialized in the maintenance and repair of SD-45 and SD-50 locomotives. My expertise included tearing down and rebuilding complex air systems, ensuring the locomotives operated efficiently and reliably. I was also responsible for conducting rigorous safety tests on the braking systems and other safety features, ensuring all work met strict safety compliance standards. My role was vital in maintaining the operational safety and reliability of these powerful machines, contributing to the overall success of the rail operations.
As an Aviation Structures Mechanic from 1985 to 1987, I played a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness of 15 F-18 Hornet aircraft. My responsibilities included the repair and maintenance
of complex hydraulic systems, conducting Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI) to detect structural flaws, and performing repairs on various structural components. In addition, I led the night shift corrosion shop, where I oversaw the prevention and treatment
of corrosion, ensuring the aircraft remained in optimal condition and mission-ready. My expertise contributed to the sustained performance and longevity of these critical naval assets.
After returning home from the Navy I became a Rodeo Bullfighter and Barrelman for 20 years. Now that I'm older my wife and I enjoy water skiing and snow skiing.
